Thanks to your generous donations, we have completed our Diploma in abuse prevention, or Safeguarding, at the Pontifical Gregorian University. We now return from Rome with hearts full of gratitude, insight, and renewed purpose—to live out our mission of reaching people on the fringes of the Church, especially those who have been wounded or abused by her members.
While we were in Rome, we walked through the Holy Doors of the Jubilee of Hope as many times as possible—we needed all the hope we could get! We were also grateful for the opportunity to see Pope Francis just months before he died.
A New Project
As we return from Italy, we return to a new home—the Catholic Diocese of Lexington, Kentucky. We are grateful to Bishop John Stowe, OFM Conv, for his support of our mission and guidance as we begin this work in the Church.
As we settle into our new home, one conviction from our studies has become impossible to ignore: the Church must become more aware of adult abuse and how to prevent it. We hear too many stories from victims of adult abuse whose suffering goes unheard and unacknowledged.
One of the greatest obstacles to preventing adult abuse is a lack of education about its dynamics.
We want to change that.
We have been working on an audio documentary titled “Descent into Light,” an eight-part series following the stages of grief. This project combines interviews with professionals and our own journeys of healing after experiences with a predatory spiritual director.
We hope this documentary will shed light on dark places and continue to ignite a long-overdue conversation in the Church. We’ll announce when it’s available on streaming platforms.
Building a Foundation
From the beginning, our supporters behind this mission have not been the powerful but the faithful-unseen saints, hidden givers, and quiet intercessors. Those people are you. You see the need. You believe change is possible. And you walk with us, step by step, on this little way.
Our work is only possible through the generosity of people like you. 168 monthly donors currently give anything from $5 to $150 a month to cover our basic expenses. We are so grateful for your steadfast support.
Would you prayerfully consider becoming a monthly donor—or, if you are, increasing your support?
We have needs that stretch beyond our current donation level, including paying rent and purchasing a new vehicle. We also need support to pursue further education in Safeguarding and trauma-informed spiritual direction. Even beyond these basic needs, we require resources that would make it possible to welcome new vocations.
Securing a home large enough for a bigger community and having the funds to support women who will discern with us are big dreams. But we believe that our important mission needs to continue long after us, which requires beginning now to make this a reality.
